
Hot Cross Buns

For the Milk Glaze:
Method:
To 1-cup milk (scalded) add 1/3-cup sugar, 1 egg, 2 tbs butter, little salt. Also add to sugar: 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/8 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 cup raisins, and a little chopped citron. Sprinkle 1 package active dry yeast over 2 tbs warm water, beat in milk mixture.
Sift before measuring 2 2/3 cup all-purpose flour. Stir in part of flour; knead in the rest. Cover and let dough rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk. After the first rising, shape dough into 18 balls and place on baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk. Bake 425 for 20 mins. Decorate with cross using a milk glaze. Makes 18. Enjoy!
