Malt Bread

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 8oz self raising flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 3 oz chopped dates or sultanas
  • 1 oz demerara sugar (available at the BP)
  • 2 tbsp malt
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup (available at the BP)
  • 1/4 pint milk
  • 1 egg

Method:
Sift flour and soda, add fruit and sugar. Heat malt, syrup and milk in small saucepan, add to dry ingredients with the beaten egg. Mix well, put into a greased loaf tin. Oven 400F for 40-45 mins. Serve sliced with butter.
